Research & publications

Three peer-reviewed IEEE-track papers—written to be rigorous, reproducible, and useful outside the lab. I conduct independent research on synthetic media detection across video, audio, image, and satellite domains, building models and evaluation protocols to test detection reliability under compression, unseen generators, unfamiliar datasets, and cross-domain conditions. Common thread: deployment robustness matters more than benchmark performance.

Domain-shift protocol & Enhanced Model Paradox — IEEE ICAIC 2026 · Houston, TX · patent pending

A Domain Shift Evaluation Protocol for Fake Satellite Image Detection: CNN Superiority and the Enhanced Model Paradox

Most detectors look strong on benchmarks, then fail on content from a new generator. This work formalizes that gap and names what the field had not yet articulated.

  • Formal protocol: train on one generator set, test on a completely unseen one
  • Enhanced Model Paradox: training on 64% more diverse data reduced generalization by 36%
  • CNNs stayed robust where Vision Transformers and CLIP-style models saw catastrophic failure
  • Confidence inversion—models more confident when wrong than when right
Quad-stream deepfake detection — IEEE ICAIC 2026 · Houston, TX · patent pending

Quad-Stream Deepfake Detection: Combining Spatial and Frequency Domain Analysis for Robust Video Authentication

Single-stream detectors fail when one representation degrades. Four parallel streams—face spatial, face frequency, frame spatial, frame frequency—so one weak view does not sink the whole system.

  • 94.2% accuracy on FaceForensics++ vs. 10.3% for single-stream Xception baseline
  • Stress-tested for compression, unseen generators, and cross-domain conditions—aimed at real deployment
  • Ablations show each stream contributes; redundancy is the robustness mechanism
GAN-based satellite deepfake detection — MIT IEEE URTC 2025 · IEEE Xplore forthcoming

GAN-Based Detection of Synthetically Generated Satellite Imagery

Fake satellite maps can mislead disaster response, planning, and civic decisions. Evaluated detection at scale across sensors, geographies, and resolutions.

  • CNN-based models held 99.9%+ accuracy under domain shift; transformer models collapsed below 1%
  • 700,000+ real and synthetic satellite images across sensors, regions, and resolutions
  • Generalization tested across unseen geographic domains
  • Presented at ESRI International User Conference; recognized by Jack Dangermond (Esri founder)
  • Invited presenter at King's College, University of Cambridge, before Nobel Laureate Thomas Cech
